The Triangle Area Chapter of the American red Cross acknowledged publicly last week the continued support given to it by employees at Cisco.

Cisco workers have donated more blood that anyone other company in each of the past two years — 2,674 units. That’s enough to save 8,022 lives, the Red Cross says.

Several employees received “gallon donator” pins, and one employee was recognized for donating 12 gallons.

Cisco employees also were recognized for the $250,000 donated to the Red Cross following Hurricane Floyd in 1999. Also, Cisco and its RTP campus workers fulfilled a pledge topping more than $1 million for the Red Cross national disaster relief fund.

Through donated time and equipment, Cisco employees also installed a Voice over Internet Protocol phone system at the Triangle chapter, three satellite Blood Centers, as well as health and safety classrooms.
