HumanCentric continues to expand its management team as it targest some $4 million in revenue this year.

The company, which focuses on product design and development and facilties design research, has hired Carol Nix to be its creative director. Nix previously owned NIXdesign, an interactive graphic firm, for 11 years.

Nix said she is looking forward to focusing on design rather than running a business.

“The key factor for me in joining HumanCentric is the opportunity to trade a spreadsheet for a sketchbook,” she said. “I am particularly excited about joining this level of product design. To be a part of such a dynamic team of professionals will exercise a broader range of my talents. If design is in your blood, it’s hard to do anything else.”

HumanCentric recently acquired Think Design and has grown to 44 employees. The company expects to record $4 million in revenues this year.

One of Nix’s tasks will be to promote HumanCentric’s Design Center operation, which is directed by Joe Jasinski.

“With the addition of Think Design and Nix, HumanCentric offers a broader portfolio of services including industrial design and graphic design,” said Barry Beith, HumanCentr’cs president, in a statement. “Our business growth requires top-notch graphic deliverables, and Carol’s reputation and experience with technology firms gives us immediate access to proven creative talent. It also extends a richer set of services to Carol’s clients in the areas of usability and design research. It’s a huge win for all of our clients.”

Nix is a graduate of Elon University and earned a master’s in graphic design at NC State.
