Cisco Systems’ suit against Chinese manufacturer Huawei grew a bit bigger on Tuesday as the federal judge handling the case permitted 3Com to join it.

CBS MarketWatch reported that 3Com could take part because of its relationship with Huawei. 3Com is a joint venture partner of Huawei, which Cisco has accused of violating its patents on networking hardware.

3Com entered into a joint venture with Huawei earlier this year and is planning to sell its first products. “To use, the case is about new products being clean,” Mark Michael, general counsel for 3Com, told CBS MarketWatch. “We want it known that our new products with Huawei are free and clear of any issues.”
