IDC, an analyst firm, has named Jim Davis, chief marketing officer at SAS, to its Software Leadership Council.

The council is intended to be a forum through which software executives can discuss industry ideas and trends. More than 30 firms will be represented at the council’s bi-annual meetings, according to SAS.

Davis attended the group’s first conference last month.

“The demands of the software market are constantly shifting and new opportunities are being generated each day,” Davis said in a statement. “Participating on this council with so many other technology thought leaders will help SAS better keep its finger on the pulse of the industry.”
