BellSouth and SBC are teaming with Cingular on a test of a program called “MinuteShare” that pools wireless and wireline phone minutes.

Cingular is owned by SBC and BellSouth.

At SuperComm in Atlanta, the firms announced the pilot test in Texas. The service will offer customers minutes for phone calls in one “bucket” that can be used for land-line or wireless phones. Customers will receive one bill.

Individuals already receiving unlimited local calling from land-line phones will have the option of receiving one bill for wireless and home bills.

The companies said they plan to roll out the service across their coverage areas later this year.
