Joseph Zell, general partner of Grotech Capital Group, says management track records and relationships are more important than ever for firms seeking venture capital.

Zell, speaking at a dinner hosted by Hutchison & Mason PLLC recently in Cary, told the audience that “statistically only 1-2 percent of deals that a VC firm sees gets funded.” He added that companies getting funding often have stronr management’s resumes plus often having an “in”, a referral or a relationship with a VC.
