Motor vehicle manufacturer BMW is using software from Raindrop Geomagic as part of a new computer-aided inspection program.
The RTP firm said its 3-D software is part of a 3-D digital model generation process in use at an engine plant in Steyr, Austria. The plant is using technology from Westcam, a scanner from GOM and Geomagic Qualify software to generate 3-D models for parts.
“The design engineers have better information about the quality of parts, which ultimately save the company money and produce a better end product for the consumers,” a spokesman for BMW said.
Raindrop Geomagic also recently announced the addition of Concurrent Design Group as its reseller in the United Kingdom.
