Atlanta is No. 1 and Charlotte is No. 3 in the latest Top 10 ranking for corporate headquarters, according to Business Facilities Location Guide.
Raleigh-Durham ranked ninth.
The rankings are based on a survey sent to corporate site selectors, location consultants and real estate professionals. Each was asked to rank five favorites.
Criteria included taxes, cost of living, construction costs and direct airline flights.
The list:
1. Atlanta, GA
2. New York, NY
3. Charlotte, NC
4. Chicago, IL
5. Dallas, TX and Washington, DC/ Northern Virginia
7. Toronto, ON
8. Boston, MA
9. Raleigh-Durham, NC
10. Pittsburgh, PA
“The great news about this ranking is the simple fact we made the list. We probably wouldn’t have been among the top ten communities for corporate headquarters five years ago,” says Wake County Economic Development Program Executive Director Ken Atkins in a statement. “This ranking validates the marketing we are doing for Raleigh/Wake County as a great location for corporate headquarters. The proof can be seen in these survey results where participants didn’t respond to a prepared list of cities, yet Raleigh and the Triangle were top of mind for most of the respondents.”
