DURHAM … Poultry vaccine developer Embrex (Nasdaq: EMBX) has named Ron Bryant vice president of North America sales and service. He will join the company June 2.

Most recently, Bryant was vice president of NAFTA Operations for Pharmacia Animal Health, with responsibility for the United States, Mexico and Canada, as well as all functions within sales, marketing and technical service.

At Embrex, he will report to Dr. David Baines, vice president of global sales. His primary responsibility will be directing the sales and service teams focused on the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia and Japan.

“We are pleased to have an executive of Ron Bryant’s caliber leading the Embrex North America Sales and Service team,” Baines said in a statement. “He will bring a broad understanding of the customer’s needs and translate how Embrex can respond to those needs.

“We believe Ron has the ability to move our North American group into its next phase of growth, which will emphasize our new proprietary devices, the Egg Remover system and eventually the Gender Sort system, as well as our upcoming vaccines Newplex and Inovocox for Newcastle disease and coccidiosis, respectively.”

Bryant, 51, has a long career in the animal health business, primarily with Upjohn Animal Health, which merged with Pharmacia Animal Health and has recently been acquired by Pfizer. He has extensive experience in sales and marketing, with responsibilities spanning many products for companion animals, livestock and poultry. He began his career at Gold Kist, the second-largest U.S. poultry producer, as both a broiler and breeder flock supervisor.
