Stephen Jeffery, formerly chairman, president and chief executive officer of Clarus, is the new president and executive director of the Technology Association of Georgia.

He replaces Emma Morris, the interim president, who will become vice chairman of the group.

“Steve’s experience managing public technology companies, raising capital and managing the growth of these companies were the key reasons we believe his expertise will be helpful to our members and staff,” said TAG Chairman Tripp Rackley in a statement.

Jeffrey was hired after a nation-wide search. According to TAG, more than 100 candidates were considered for the job.

Clarus has been a pioneer in the business-to-business marketplace, including growth to $34 million revenue and going public. Jeffery also served as president and CEO of SQL Financials, which also went public. Jeffery began his career with IBM. He also has been involved in raising more than $280 million in financing.

TAG recently decided to refocus its efforts on becoming a state-wide voice for legislative issues, capital raising and fundraising. However, it also will remain active in putting on events.
