Relativity is expanding and renaming its products for updating mainframe applications.

Modernization Workbench is the new name for Rescueware, and it now includes four modules: application analyzer, application architect, business rule manager and transformation assistant.

Packages sell for $50,000 to $200,000 and include training, developer mentoring, and 12-month licenses.

Relativity says its software helps firms to maintain and update applications that were written in older languages, avoiding the need to spend money on writing new ones.

“The change in our product line reflects the fact that our company is committed to dramatically cutting the costs traditionally associated with mainframe applications while enabling companies to efficiently re-architect or transform applications for easy integration with web services,” says Steve Maysonave, Relativity’s new chief executive officer.
