EarthLink, boosted by 112,000 new broadband customers, hit 5.0 million paying customers in the first quarter of this year.
The 67.5 percent increase of high-speed customers, which now total 891,000, helped offset a 5.1 percent drop in dialup customers. Overall, EarthLink’s customer count is 2.9 percent higher than the first quarter in 2002.
The company also reported $353.7 million in revenue, up 6 percent from 2002. Losses totaled $65.7 million, or 43 cents per share, up from $60.7 million or 41 cents a share in 2002.
