Dr. W. Lowry Caudill and Dr. Al Childers, who co-founded Magellan Labs, are the first advisory board members named by startup Piedmont Pharmaceuticals.
Caudill and Childers founded Magellan in 1991. It was acquired by Cardinal Health last year. The two doctors are co-presidents of the pharmaceutical development business unit for Cardinal.
Piedmont has two products in development — a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that can be administered through the skin and a patent-pending topical head lice treatment. The lice treatment is expected to be the firm’s to-market drug.
