Sprint says it will invest $218 million in network upgrades and expansion of services across North Carolina.
Among the planned changes are expansion of digital subscriber line (DSL) coverage to almost all local exchanges, more fiber, and transitioning to Internet Protocol (IP) packet switching from circuit switching, according to Steven Parrott, Sprint’s state executive for the Carolinas.
Circuit-to-packet network changes will be installed in Clinton, Jacksonville and Havelock, Parrott said.
