EarthLink has bought back from Sprint 9 million shares of stock that Sprint held in the Internet Service Provider as an investment made between 1998 and 2000.
EarthLink (Nasdaq: ELNK) bought the stock for $53 million.
EarthLink also is proceeding to buy back other stock under a plan announced in February. EarthLink stock was selling at $5.98 a share in midday trading.
