Nortel has decided to re-enter the emerging wireless local area network battle.
Nortel announced a series of products on Monday for Wi-Fi markets in the 802.1 standard, including a security switch, mobile adapter, access point and mobile voice client. The company said products would be available in the second quarter of this year. Nortel launched Wi-Fi products in 1999 then pulled out two years later, largely ceding the market to rivals such as Cisco and Lucent, according to the news service CNET.
Nortel said its focus would be on enterprise networks.
