Embrex has won two additional patents, including one for methods used to determine bird gender before hatching.
Patricia Phelps, senior director of product development and marketing at Embrex, discovered the technology for determining gender based on elevated levels of a sex-related hormone. Currently, gender is determined by hand after hatching.
The second patent has to do with allantoic fluid. The technology was discovered by Thomas Bryan and Ann Gore.
