SAS and IBM have formed an alliance that is designed to provide comprehensive warranty analysis and early warning solutions for the auto industry.
The firms are collaborating to help auto firms meet new requirements under the Transportation Recall Enhancement, Accountability and Documentation act, which takes effect April 1.
SAS and IBM say they have developed a software solution that integrates data from a wide variety of sources — from customer surveys to service records — and then analyzes the information. Manufacturers will be notified as potential problems begin to emerge.
The companies also believe the information can be used by manufacturers to improved product quality, avoid defects, and lower warranty costs.
