Ascot Technologies, which focuses on wireless applications, has won a contract to develop a means of wireless data capture and submission for a project by the North Carolina Pre-Hospital Medical Information system (PreMIS).

The system is being developed for emergency medical service ((EMS) units by the department of emergency medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Currently, information is gathered and reported by fax or online data entry.

The PreMIS system is designed to encourage and improve electronic data gathering at incidents and is seen as a more complete alternative to hand-written reports.
