EM Fest, an electronic media festival, handed out 14 awards at its annual contest over the weekend at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Thirteen of the winners were from North Carolina, representing schools from the coast to Asheville. One student from South Carolina also won.

- Digital Image Manipulation: Bridgette Cannon, UNC Pembroke
- Digital Music and Sound: Oswald Cuervo, Duke University
- Digital Photography: Andrew Baker, UNC Charlotte
- Digital Video – Long: Nicholas Owen, UNC Asheville
- Digital Video – Short: Laura Maute, UNC Wilmington
- Game Design – General: Tabitha Bailey, UNC Asheville
- Game Design – Education: Tara Blum, Elon University
- Logo/Identity Design: René Fielder UNC Charlotte
- Web Site – General: Ericka Hedgecock, UNC Greensboro
- Web Site – Personal: Stephanie Ogburn, University of South Carolina
- Best of Show Award: Erik Perkins, UNC Asheville
