Ten evolving companies have advanced through the first stage of the annual Five Ventures competition at UNC Charlotte.
Surviving the first-round of evaluations were:

- Calyptix Security
- Granite
- IntePoint
- InsituTec
- Nanoresist Technologies
- R&C Marketing
- Singras
- Smart Prints
These firms will present PowerPoint pitches to the Five Ventures selection committee on March 11, and the five finalists will be selected on March 12.
The final competition will be March 27.
