Red Hat and Oracle have decided to submit Red Hat Advanced Server for a security evaluation.
The companies said in a statement Wednesday that the move is designed to “enable security-conscious customers in both the public and private sector to procure an evaluated Linux operating system upon which they can run enterprise applications.”
The evaluation is being done as required by a National Security Telecommunications and Information Systems Security Policy statement. It dictates that an independent security evaluation be done for products used in the national security system.
Red Had Advanced Service has sold more than 20,000 copies since introduced several months ago.
