Productivity Point International says its media publishing platform, Knowledge Publisher, will allow Wiley Publishing to develop, publish and manage online training for its “60 Minutes a Day” series.

From its offices in Hoboken, NJ, Wiley says it will offer its first computer training books that combine detailed self-study materials with online training to help programmers and web developers master new skills.

Wiley’s 60 Minutes a Day series is launching with four titles, ASP.NET in 60 Minutes a Day, VB .NET in 60 Minutes a Day, XML in 60 Minutes a Day, and Java in 60 Minutes a Day, targeting the web developer and programmer audience.

Knowledge Publisher integrates video, audio, presentations, chat, polling, and administration tools into a presentation environment. Together the integrated training manual and online sessions will provide a learning experience that merges instructor-led training with superior technical content, the company says.

“The Knowledge Publisher platform delivers a communication experience through high-impact messages that are more likely to influence view actions than a single medium,” Jon Meyer, VP of e-Learning at Raleigh-based Productivity Point, said in a statement. “Our publishing platform focuses on instructional design…not programming…allowing Wiley Publishing flexibility in creating training pieces.”

Meyer said Knowledge Publisher, which resides on a Web-based architecture, is equipped to accommodate enterprise-wide rich media needs such as these, allowing thousands of users access to online training material.

Wiley will publish its 60 Minutes a Day series in late second quarter of 2003.
