GREENVILLE,NewSouth Communications, saying it wanted to concentrate on communications services, sold off its hardware division on Monday.

NewSouth said it agreed to sell its systems-related business, including telecommunications equipment, cabling and maintenance group to Magnolia Communications. Magnolia also is based in Greenville.

Terms were not disclosed.

“To stay on our positive growth path, we simply must focus our business exclusively on voce and data solutions,” said James Akerhielm, president and chief executive officer of NewSouth.

NewSouth had entered the systems and hardware business in mid-2000 when it acquired UniversalCom of New Orleans.
