SITEL, a global provider of customer support services, has deployed Red Hat’s Linux Advanced Server as part of a cost-savings IT upgrade, the company announced at Linux World on Wednesday.

SITEL said it had lowered information technology costs approximately 70 percent by choosing the Advanced Service solution over UNIX.

The Red Hat software will be running on more than 20 Dell PowerEdge servers. SITEL also incorporated the Oracle9i Database. SITEL said the solution was linked to its 17 remote call center locations so its employees can access customer information in a more timely basis.
