The Metrolina Entrepreneurial Council (MEC) is accepting nominations for The Trailblazer 2003 Award.

This award, sponsored by Grant Thornton and co Morris Manning & Martin, will showcase entrepreneurial companies that are established in their fields and have overcome obstacles to succeed. It is a celebration of entrepreneurial spirit, and provides inspiration to the entrepreneurial community.

The MEC is seeking nominations for the Trailblazer 2003 Award to be presented at the Trailblazer Awards Banquet, which will be held in February.

Eligibility is determined according to the following criteria:

  • The company must be headquartered within the Metrolina area of North and South Carolina
  • The company must be independently operated, and cannot be controlled by a “parent” company
  • The company must maintain principal management influence from the founding entrepreneur who readily assumes risk in seeking innovation and new ventures
  • The nominated company’s founding entrepreneur is an inspirational role model for budding entrepreneurs
  • The company must have transitioned to professional management practices, and built a solid management team
  • The company is recognized as an innovative leader with successful proprietary products or services. The company has exhibited increasing sales and/or projections of sustainable growth
  • The company is at least 3 years old
