Despite the global economic slowdown, RF Micro reported record revenues for its fiscal third quarter on Tuesday.

RF Micro (Nasdaq: RFMD), which provides radio frequency integrated circuits, said revenues soared 45 percent over the same period a year ago to $145.8 million. Gross profit increased some 40 percent to more than $54.4 million in the same time frame.

Revenues were helped by a 21.3 percent increase in wireless local area network sales, to $9.7 million.

Earnings per share — 8 cents — beat RF Micro’s own estimates by 3 cents.

However, those figures will be reduced by costs related to the acquisition of Resonext Communications and other costs, the company said.
