The exit of a competitor apparently is good news for Digital Optics Corporation, a company focused on emerging micro-optics.

Zygo TeraOptix has decided to quit that sector and has struck a deal with the Charlotte firm to transfer some of its customers to Digital Optics, according to a statement released Monday.

“ZTO and DOC have worked hard to ensure a seamless transition for the customers,” said Joe DeBartolo, vice president of sales and marketing for Digital Optics.

Digital Optics is involved in micro-optics, photonic chip optical sub-assemblies and related research surrounding chip manufacturing.
