Penley, Inc., a financial security firm hoping to help banks and financial firms deal with stiffer regulations under the US Patriot Act, closed a seed round to end the venture year for Georgia.

The amount raised and the investors were not disclosed.

For the year, Georgia firms executed 55 deals worth $485 million, according to figures compiled by Local Tech Wire. The average deal was $8.8 million.

Datatrac, an Atlanta software company, pulled in a $3 million second round earlier in December for the state’s first venture deal since mid-November, and no local funds were involved in the deal.
