Lord Corporation has named Richard L. McNeel, as its new president and chief executive officer.

McNeel, who retired Jan. 1 as group vice president for London-based BP Chemicals, is expected to join the Lord Corp. on Dec. 2.

Prior to BP, McNeel was group VP of chemical intermediates and also of polymers for Amoco Chemicals. He’s also served as president of Amoco Performance Products.

“Over his career, McNeel has established a proven record of leadership and growing businesses and commercializing innovative products in a global environment,” Lord Chairman Sheldon Buckler said in a statement.

McNeel replaces Charles J. Hora Jr., who resigned as president of Lord Corp. in April to pursue interests outside the company.

Lord Corp. is a privately held, diversified company that designs, formulates, manufactures and markets adhesives, polyurethane coatings, electronic adhesives and coatings; devices and systems to manage mechanical motion and control noise, and products and systems utilizing magnetically responsive technology.

Cary-based Lord Corp. has three major operating divisions: Chemical Products Division, Mechanical Products Division, and Materials Division. It employs over 2,200 worldwide at 10 U.S. manufacturing sites, a research development center, and several foreign operations.
