Scientific-Atlanta (NYSE: SFA) has reached a definitive agreement to acquire some of the assets of the Network Technologies business of Arris Interactive for $37.5 million.
Arris (Nasdaq: ARRS), based in Duluth, GA, is a provider of broadband local access networks and high-speed data and telephony systems for the delivery of voice, video and data to the home and business.
The assets to be acquired by Scientific-Atlanta include analog optics, nodes, and RF products.
“This transaction extends Scientific-Atlanta’s product offering and enhances our ability to offer products and services to a wider customer base,” Dwight Duke, president of Scientific-Atlanta’s transmission network systems business, said in a statement.
Scientific-Atlanta says it expects to close the transaction by the end of the calendar year.
Based in Atlanta, Scientific-Atlanta is a supplier of digital content distribution systems, transmission networks for broadband access to the home, digital interactive set-tops and subscriber systems designed for video, high-speed Internet and voice over IP networks.
