INC Research has acquired Vujaklija, a contract research organization (CRO) that was one of the first in the industry to serve Central and Eastern Europe.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Through the addition of Vujaklija and the recent European expansion of DataSpectrum Inc., its wholly owned data services subsidiary, INC Research says it is focusing on central nervous system, oncology (brain tumors) and data services.
“With the addition of Vujaklija, INC Research now leads the therapeutic-focused sector of our industry–” Glenn Bilawsky, chief executive officer of INC Research, said in a statement. “The strategic value of Vujaklija’s capability in Europe is immeasurable in our targeted areas of oncology and CNS. The attention and desire of the pharma industry is now heavily focused on Central and Eastern Europe, where Vujaklija has been working from 10 regionally based offices for over a decade.
Bilawsky claims that INC Research is now the largest therapeutically focused CRO in all of Europe. He says the firm now speaks 26 languages, works in 25 countries, from 16 offices worldwide
Vesna Vujaklija, president and founder of Vujaklija, and her entire team will immediately become an “integral part” of the INC Research team, Bilawsky adds.
“From the beginning, as we worked with regional governments to develop the regulations and guidelines that steer the industry today, our top priority has been providing the highest quality of customer service,” Vujaklija said in a statement. “…Now we have become one to better meet our client’s development needs while retaining a focus on each individual client, whether their project is regionally-based or international in scale–.”
