TogetherSoft, which was recently acquired by Borland for $185 million, says CNA Insurance (CNA) has selected its Together ControlCenter development environment for its strategic application development efforts.

CNA (NYSE: CNA) is a Chicago-based provider of commercial as well as long term care insurance and offers a broad range of insurance products and services.

“Despite legacy technologies such as Rational, used in some areas at CNA, Together ControlCenter proved to have the most complete support of UML…essential to creating consistent and standard models…and our team decided to standardize on it,” Karl Gouverneur, vice president of Enterprise Architecture and Consulting Services at CNA.

Aside from UML compliance, other features that appealed to the CNA team included Together ControlCenter’s built-in quality assurance, its platform technology independence and refactoring capabilities. The team also benefited from TogetherSoft’s professional mentor training.

Approximately 50 developers at CNA are currently using ControlCenter, with plans to extend that reach to 100 development team members by the end of 2002.
