ATLANTA … The latest MoneyTree Survey showed Georgia companies landing about $84 million in the third quarter in 18 deals, the worst quarter for the state since early 1998. But the state will be hard-pressed to match even those anemic totals if October’s trend line continues.

Only three deals totaling about $29 million were reported during the month, including the $20 million raised last week by customer relationship software developer WebTone Technologies.

Georgia continues to lead the region with $456 million in venture capital raised so far this year in 49 deals, for an average deal size of just over $9.3 million. Here is a look at LocalTechWire’s exclusive list of Georgia deals, ranked according to the size of the investment:
