The Mountain Council for Entrepreneurial Development (MCED) and the Blue Ridge Angel Investment Network (BRAIN) are teaming up to launch the MCED/BRAIN concept in western North Carolina on Oct. 15.

The event will include opening remarks by Jim Roberts, the Charlotte entrepreneur who was hired recently as executive director of MCED and BRAIN. The keynote speaker is Ted Zoller, associate dean of business & finance at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Zoller will speak on “The role of government and colleges in encouraging entrepreneurship as part of economic development.”

The MCED is focused on education of entrepreneurs, creating mentoring and networking opportunities, communications through newsletters and web site and capital formation and preparation.

The MCED/BRAIN concept launch will begin with networking at 5:30 PM,
followed by the program at 6:15. It will be on the second floor of the Hanynes Center on the AB Tech Enka Campus. Cost is $10. RSVP to Roberts at
