Internet Security Systems (Nasdaq: ISSX) says that it has named Kimberly Baker as vice president of government operations for the company.

In this new role, ISS says Baker will work closely with Steve Cooker, VP and general manager of public sector operations, to drive strategy and enhance the company’s presence and growth in the U.S. federal government arena.

“Baker’s knowledge of public sector information technology and the consulting and sales process brings a significant advantage to Internet Security Systems,” Cooker said in a statement. “Kimberly will be working directly with our customers, resellers and integrators. Her expertise will help us reach the next level in government sales and support our overall mission to be the world standard for intrusion protection solutions.”

Baker has held key leadership positions throughout her 20-year career, including senior VP of Federal Sources Inc. (FSI), where she had developmental, operational and financial responsibility for the company’s consulting and advisory services business. Prior to joining FSI, Baker spent 20 years with AT&T and NCR Government Systems.
