Pratt & Whitney, a division of United Technologies (NYSE: UTX), has chosen Engineous Software’s process integration and design optimization software iSIGHT as its company standard for design exploration and optimization.

The agreement is the latest in a relationship that began in 1996 when Pratt & Whitney first used iSIGHT to develop engine designs and decrease design cycle time. The aircraft engine supplier has used iSIGHT in the development of more than 40 production applications covering all major engine components.

Engineers at Pratt & Whitney, which is based in East Hartford, CT, will use iSIGHT to integrate and automate their current engineering design tools. This will allow them to explore more design alternatives in a much shorter period of time, the company says.

In addition to Pratt & Whitney in North America, engineers at Carrier Corp., Hamilton Sundstrand, UTC Fuel Cells, Otis Elevators and the United Technologies Research Center, all subsidiaries of Hartford-based UTC, are also currently using Engineous’ solutions in their product design processes.

Engineous’ iSIGHT is the company’s flagship product. Founded in 1996, Cary-based Engineous operates numerous sales offices in the United States, as well as wholly owned subsidiaries in Asia and Europe.
