EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: ELMG), a designer of wireless, satellite and defense mobile solutions, announced it has granted San Jose-based LGC Wireless a non-exclusive worldwide license to manufacture and market its products. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The deal is really a settlement that stemmed from patent litigation previously filed by EMS. Company officials were not immediately available to discuss details of the lawsuit.

In a prepared statement EMS President and Chief Executive Officer Alfred Hansen, says: Over the years EMS has made major investments in developing cutting-edge technology and is committed to protecting its intellectual property rights. We are pleased to have reached an agreement with LGC that enables EMS to benefit from our patented technology.”

Through second quarter 2002 EMS’ net sales increased 8 percent to $153.3 million while net income increased 19 percent to $4.6 million. Shares of ELMG ranged in price from $10.02 to $25.60 during the last 52 weeks and recently traded near $13.07. The company’s market capitalization is $131.4 million.
