CONCORD,When CT Communications customers dial for directory assistance or just need an operator in the near future they won’t be dealing with someone employed by the 105-year-old telecommunications firm.
Citing changes in the marketplace and growing competition, CT Communications (Nasdaq: CTCI) announced Tuesday that it will soon outsource operator services to ITC DeltaCom within the next 60 days.
As a result, some CT Communications says “fewer than 25” employees will be affected. Some will be offered severance, others retraining, and others early retirement, the company says.
ITC DeltaCom is based in West Point, GA.
CT stock closed Tuesday at $13, down 20 cents. Its stock has ranged from $12.85 to $19.25 over the past year.
