Equant (NYSE: ENT) has launched Equant Video for IP VPN, billed as the first service with a dedicated IP Class of Service (CoS) for high-quality video conferences on the same connection as voice and data traffic.
The dedicated CoS is designed to meet the requirements of video applications and ensure optimum video conferencing quality for corporate use, Equant says. It also ensures that video traffic does not hinder other real-time traffic, such as voice or sensitive data applications.
Equant says Video for IP VPN … which is backed by video-specific service level agreements for latency, packet loss and jitter … supports both conference room and desktop IP video conferencing applications. Ten Equant multinational customers are in the process of implementing the service, the company says.
Equant says its Video for IP VPN is the latest component in the company’s Convergence Services portfolio, bringing together voice, video and data on the same IP network. It runs over Equant IP VPN, the MPLS-based IP VPN service, which is available in more than 140 countries and territories and serves more than 550 customers worldwide.
A member of the France Telecom Group, Equant maintains its US headquarters in Atlanta.
