MediaSpan Group, a provider of online retail music and movie stores to radio stations, has partnered with Art.com, an online marketplace for prints, posters, photographs and custom framing.

“We’re excited about this,” Art.com Spokeswoman Nancy Enloe tells Local Tech Wire. “This is entirely compatible with our business plan and the direction that Art.com is heading in extending its reach to consumers.”

Enloe adds that Art.com has “quite a few affiliates” and “some Web-based advertising.” She also says Art.com will likely see more partnerships in the future. Earlier estimates were for Art.com to establish 30,000 affiliate partnerships and approximately 300 corporate partnerships.

Late last month, Art.com announced it would supplement its reach into the college market through a relationship with Student Advantage Inc., an integrated media and commerce company focused on the higher education market. This partnership expanded Art.com’s reach to potentially more than 3 million students through Student Advantage’s network of content Web sites.

Through this latest partnership, MediaSpan radio affiliates can provide their listeners access to over 100,000 posters and prints from Art.com through its stations’ Music and Movie store.

“The addition of posters to our storefronts is something we’ve been working toward for a long time,” MediaSpan Radio Division President Jeff Williams said in a statement. “With thousands of music-themed posters and several times that number in other popular entertainment categories, Art.com is a perfect fit for our stores and our affiliates. Stations will now have the opportunity to give listeners easy, affordable access to posters of their core artists and favorite stars.”

Posters have already been added to over 300 MediaSpan stores, allowing listeners the ability to now purchase music, movies, artist merchandise and posters from station-branded stores, MediaSpan says. Each store is private labeled to mirror the look and feel of the participating stations’ Web sites. Featured selections within the stores are also customized to the radio format of each station.

MediaSpan and Art.com also say they will team up to offer numerous promotions throughout the year, as inducements to drive sales and revenues for stations.

MediaSpan is a diversified media technology that services in excess of 3,000 media customers. The company provides technology solutions for print, content management, hosting, e-commerce and promotion activities. Investors include Covestco-Seteura, Rustic Canyon Group, Southeast Interactive Technology Funds and media companies. MediaSpan is headquartered in Research Triangle Park, with offices in Ann Arbor, MI and Melbourne, FL.

Based in Raleigh, Art.com is privately owned, and the company’s growth has been fueled by its own profits.
