SlickEdit, Inc., a developer of editing platforms for software engineers, announced at LinuxWorld in San Francisco that Visual SlickEdit is available for Linux on IBM eServer zSeries.

SlickEdit is sticking to previous marketing efforts with this latest announcement, saying Visual SlickEdit will increase productivity for software engineers working on the Linux for zSeries operating system. Company officials say mainfame developers using the program will be able to compile, build and execute software programs on the mainframe rather than having to transfer files to another computer.

SlickEdit also announced it is delivering support for Eclipse, an open platform software development tool, in Visual SlickEdit.

In a prepared statement SlickEdit chief executive Jill Maurer said: “This new product is a great productivity solution for customers experiencing the pressures of reducing IT costs and complexity.”
