BellSouth Internet Exchange has selected Cygent to provide an integrated customer care, order and service management solution for its network access point called Multimedia Internet Exchange (MIX).

San Francisco-based Cygent is the first software company to offer a Web-based customer, order and service management platform for the communications industry, BellSouth says.

As a network access point, the MIX enhances the ability of ISPs, Web-hosting companies, ASPs and other types of telecom companies to provide services in their markets. The Cygent solution will allow BellSouth to maximize the success of the MIX initiative through streamlined order entry for high-bandwidth services, automated complex order management processes, accurate service management and a shortened service activation lifecycle.

“Cygent was our platform of choice because of their proven track record with other Tier 1 service providers and their extensive order management capabilities for optical and IP services,” BellSouth Internet Exchange President Susan Campbell said in a statement.

At BellSouth Internet Exchange, Cygent Universal Agent Portal will provide the sales and customer care call center designed to support intuitive order entry, comprehensive post-provisioning service management and trouble ticketing. Flow through provisioning and activation lifecycles will be facilitated via an interface between Cygent and Syndesis.
