It’s not quite France, where most workers take the entire month of August off, but it’s close.
The four employees of web development design firm novelProjects have packed up their computers and printers, forwarded calls to their cell phones and moved the company’s office to a house in Cocoa Beach, Fla., for the next month.
Company officials developed the idea of a working vacation because the four employees always need to be available to serve their clients and it’s difficult for them to take more than one or two days of vacation at a time. Each of them serve somewhat different functions in the company, so it’s hard for people to cover for each other, the company says.
novelProjects provides design, maintenance, hosting, e-commerce functionality, statistical reporting and search engine placement to a national client base in a variety of industries. Clients include AOL, Duke Center For Living, Duke Divinity School and MDeverywhere.
