ATLANTA … Starz Encore Group and N2 Broadband have signed an agreement to use N2’s MediaPath technology to deliver Starz On Demand movies to cable television operators across the United States.

Atlanta-based N2 provides scalable, open-standards technologies for offering on-demand services for cable systems. With its Starz Super Pak of 12 movie channels, Starz Encore is the leading provider of cable and satellite-delivered premium movie channels in the United States. Starz On Demand is an enhancement to the Super Pak, which provides impulse viewing of movies with full “DVD-like” functionality for a simple, flat monthly charge and no fee per view.

Starz Encore will use the MediaPath platform for direct delivery of its subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) content to multiple system operator (MSO) cable partners, beginning later this year.

“We’re pleased to be the content distribution partner for Starz Encore,” N2 President and Chief Executive Reggie Bradford said in a statement. “Our next generation content delivery solution provides secure end-to-end delivery and is the ideal platform to enable Starz Encore to deploy SVOD services to its customers with the benefit of economies of scale.”

“We now have firm agreements in place with every major SVOD content player,” Bradford added. Other customers include HBO, iN DEMAND and Warner Bros.

“In the rapidly evolving world of ‘cable on demand,’ N2 Broadband is at the leading edge of delivering SVOD programming from the content provider, like Starz Encore, to the distributor, our MSO partners,” John Beyler, vice president of technology at Starz Encore, said in the statement.
