MORRISVILLE, N.C. … The University of Notre Dame has selected SciQuest’s HigherMarkets as its procurement platform.

SciQuest (NASDAQ: SQST), a software and services company for research operations for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and other research-based organizations, acquired HigherMarkets last month. The unit focuses on meeting the procurement needs of universities, colleges, research institutes and other post-secondary education entities.

Notre Dame joins Indiana University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in leading the deployment of the HigherMarkets’ platform. Other SciQuest procurement customers include GlaxoSmithKline, Memorial Sloan-Kettering and Corixa.

“The University of Notre Dame is committed to leveraging technology to improve operational effectiveness in the administrative services we deliver,” university Vice President for Business Operations James J. Lyphout said in a statement. “Procurement is a key area in which we expect to achieve substantial administrative savings over the coming years.”

SciQuest Vice President Dorrian Porter, who oversees HigherMarkets, added, “The University of Notre Dame’s decision underscores the growing need for campus-wide procurement solutions as a means to achieve operational effectiveness. We are excited to support the University of Notre Dame to realize its goals of expanding and significantly improving the procurement services function. This also sends a clear signal that our recent acquisition by SciQuest should accelerate our ability to attract other leading higher education institutions.”
