Computone Corporation has named R. Francis DiPrete, currently on the company’s Board of Directors, to succeed John Freitag as chairman effective immediately. Freitag, a director since 1992, will continue to serve as a director.
DiPrete was elected to Computone’s Board in January. He has been a member of the Connecticut and Rhode Island Bar Associations since 1998. In conjunction with his private practice, DiPrete is the chief executive officer and director of Worldtech Waste Management, a position he has held since June 2000. From 1980 to 1997, he was a real estate professional.
Computone, which has announced a pending corporate name change to Symbiat, has been a player in the IT industry since 1984. Today, Computone designs, manufactures and markets a line of intelligent servers for secure remote network management, secure e-commerce, and remote access communications for Internet, Sun, Linux, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft Windows NT and Novell.
