AUSTIN,Austin Ventures, one of the nation’s largest venture capital firms, has named a former executive from Atlanta-based Internet Security Systems as an entrepreneur-in-residence.

Michael Dickstein, former vice president of strategy and corporate development for at ISS, is the first specialist in his field to be added to the EIR program at Austin Ventures. As an EIR, Dickstein will be applying his expertise in security technologies and trends to assist portfolio companies in developing innovative products that best meet market needs, the venture firm says.

While at ISS, Dickstein was responsible for overall strategic direction and corporate development activities. In past roles at ISS, he served as VP of business development and VP of sales and marketing for the managed security business unit. Prior to joining the company, Dickstein worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company assisting clients in growth strategies, operational improvements, and marketing strategy.

Austin Ventures invests nationally from $100,000 to $20 million in software, communications, and semiconductor companies.
