Advertising and public relations agency Fritts Hanna & O’Neill, known as EFHO, has sold its Raleigh office to two of its managers.

Creative Director Domenick Rella and Margaret Cowan, who headed account service, now operate Rella:Cowan.

The lagging 2001 economy. in addition to the Triangle’s flat advertising market prompted the main office, housed in Erie, Pennsylvania, to evaluate the investment in the Raleigh office, explains Cowan, now general manager of Rella:Cowan.

“We made the owners an offer they couldn’t refuse,” Cowan says. “We were already working independent of the main office, and this allows us to customize our approach for this market.”

Raleigh’s EFHO worked primarily with business-to-business clients and formrely represented First Citizens Bank. Rella:Cowan is already working with Cary’s Kimley-Horn Associates, Reichhold, Lord Corporation, SanduskyAthol International and TCF Bank.

Cowan’s career in advertising and public relations spans more than 13 years and includes concentrated work in healthcare promotions. Prior to joining EFHO, Rella worked with two other Triangle agencies, The Zimmerman Group and The Stone Agency. He also spent seven years at Durham-based Qualex, Kodak’s photo finishing division, working on national branding for Target.
