Raleigh Metro Magazine, the exclusive city-regional monthly four-color magazine serving the Raleigh/Research Triangle region, has signed a partnership agreement with Local Tech Wire to create an editorial joint venture to publish the magazine’s third annual report on high technology.
The agreement calls for Rick Smith, technology columnist and Senior Editor at Metro as well as Managing Editor of Local Tech Wire, to create editorial content utilizing the Local Tech Wire editorial team in coordination with Metro Magazine’s editor and publisher Bernie Reeves. Metro Magazine will be responsible for design, production and sales activities.
The special issue, due in August, is dedicated entirely to tech coverage and will combine the best of Metro’s annual review of the high-tech economy with Local Tech Wire’s in-depth daily coverage of the high-tech sector from the Carolinas to Georgia. The special issue will focus on several key areas:
- Emerging medical technology and research at major NC hospitals
(UNC, Duke, ECU) - Profiles and interviews with leading tech executives, venture capitalists and entrepreneurs, primarily in RTP and points east
- Overviews of the tech economies in RTP, Charlotte and Atlanta markets with stories as well on Down East emerging firms and growing tech/biotech firms in the Triad
- Metro Magazine’s popular listing of the 100 Tech companies to watch in RTP and points east also will include “companies to watch” in Atlanta, Charlotte and Triad roundups
- Additionally, the Metro/LTW issue will include an extensive listing of venture capital and investment firms as well as the latest data in following the money – the oxygen that drives the high-tech economy
According to Reeves, “This, our third high tech special issue will be, with content generated by the expert writers at Local Tech Wire, the best source for coverage and information about the high-tech, venture capital and life science/biotech companies in the Carolinas and Georgia published this year. It will have a long ‘shelf life’ for advertisers and readers because this issue will be the handbook entrepreneurs and high-tech industry execs and investors have to have.”
Adds Smith: “We are striving to be a leading provider of daily local technology news coverage, so we believe our editorial depth and focus will reinforce and expand Metro’s highly popular High-Tech 100 issue. By combining forces, this special edition promises to be the most insightful, comprehensive High-Tech 100 issue to date.”
